You all hate on her, but I feel like for the first time in years this girl is happy. Happy with her life after a horrible break up, happy with her career after years of people telling her what she could and couldn’t do. You may judge her but I commend her for being herself and giving absolutely zero fucks.
this caption makes the whole pic better idk
“It’s more fun in the Philippines” is the tourism marketing campaign which was launched by the Department of Tourism. Its main purpose is to encourage foreigners to travel to the Philippines and experience the wonders of it. It truly achieved its purpose; needless to say, it became popular amongst the Filipinos too. To confirm this notion, they use this statement in so many ways, especially in memes, that it became annoying. However, if we sidestep from these beautiful sceneries and lovely smiles and finally dig deeper to the grotesque and unfortunate state of our people, can we say that “It’s more fun in the Philippines”?
Nobody said life would be easy. It’s hard. Everyone is facing their own battles. Unfortunately, some are facing more than they could. The documentary, Buto’t Balat, indeed shows one of the dark parts of the Philippines. It’s a well-known reality that people often dodge and turn a blind eye to. I know it exists but this documentary just blew me away and not in a good way. It made me shiver to the point I want it to be just a dream, a very bad dream that I will soon wake up from. Unluckily, it is real. It showed a man working hard for 50 php just to feed 9 mouths, including his. It’s kind of ironic that the person who is working in the seaport can’t even eat the fishes he had caught. It saddens me that a pregnant woman drinks coffee only for breakfast. How can that bring nourishment to the baby? And it is unbearable to see children that are underweight consuming a pack of noodles everyday.
Malnutrition is frightening. This is the truth. It is the dark truth that we need to solve and fast. This is something everyone should be aware of. I know the government is doing its job but is it enough? There are so many uneducated and unemployed Filipinos who are succumbing to poverty and eventually leading to the malnutrition of the Filipinos. We don’t need Band-aid welfare programs. We need more jobs, stable livelihoods and educated people to eliminate malnutrition. But most of all, we, as individual citizens of this country, should care. Be sensitive and care for other people. Stop criticizing and blaming them for their poverty, instead help them improve themselves. As the saying goes, one small step of a man, one giant leap for mankind.
Parents expect to see their children grow, mature and have children of their own. When the time comes, parents will leave them behind and that’s the natural course of life. “No parent should have to bury his/her child,” a statement any parent would be scared to utter but Progeria made them. Progeria is an extremely rare disease a child can have. It can make a child look much older than his/her original age. And studies show that children who have this can only live for 14-15 years.
Rachel, a 9-year old girl was diagnosed with Progeria. She is a very energetic kid with big hopes and dreams. She said, “Gusto ko pong maging artista, para matulungan ko yung mga mama at papa ko po.” But how can she make these dreams come true if she can’t live long? Progeria took that dream of hers and made her realize that she would soon die.
Maureen, 1 4 year old girl, was also diagnosed with Progeria. She’s different from Rachel, who is lively. She’s been isolated all her life and doesn’t have the slightest idea about her near death.
These two became friends and talked about anything under the sun. They even talked about their disease and that they’re not alone.
Life is truly unfair. Some people are wasting their life being lazy, doing crimes, hurting people and making their lives miserable while these two were already sentenced to meet death at an early age. I realized that life is short. We keep on taking things for granted and always complaining about everything that we forget to live life to the fullest. Stop whining and live your life because some of us are fortunate to have 80 years to live while these girls didn’t even experience to fall in love and fulfill their dreams.
Summer Bucketlist #1
I saw this here. And I’m planning on making something similar this summer. I just know the perfect place for it—-my room! Well, I want to paint the strips. I’m excited! I. CANT. WAIT!
A sculpture of the Roman Colosseum, done in a real tooth.
Not sure if cool or terrifying…
if the bacteria in your mouth have evolved to reach the level of Roman civilization, you should probably brush your teeth
